Common questions
What hardware do I need to get started?
AskBooks POS runs on any tablet, laptop, or Windows POS terminal. Plug in a USB barcode scanner (we recommend Honeywell or Symbol), any ESC/POS thermal printer (Epson TM-T82 works great), and a cash drawer. We sell a ready-to-go hardware bundle at ₹8,999 that includes all three.
How does offline mode work — is my data safe?
POS stores every transaction locally in encrypted storage on your device. When internet returns, transactions sync to AskBooks in order. You never lose a sale. Inventory and price updates from head office also cache locally so the counter works fully without connectivity.
Can I run multiple counters in one shop?
Yes. Each counter gets its own cashier login and drawer reconciliation. All counters share one inventory pool. The manager dashboard shows sales per counter in real time. Shift management handles opening and closing cash for each counter independently.
How does GST work on POS receipts?
Every item is mapped to its GST tax slab (0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) and HSN code when you set up the product catalog. The receipt shows item-wise tax breakup and total CGST/SGST. At month-end, GSTR-1 data is pre-filled from POS sales — no re-entry.
Is POS included in my AskBooks Pro plan or is it an add-on?
POS is a standalone product with its own pricing. Your POS subscription includes full inventory sync with AskBooks Pro, so both products talk to each other automatically. You can start with the Starter plan (1 counter) and upgrade any time.
