Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the AskBooks platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and any additional policies referenced herein. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Account Registration

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

AskBooks offers monthly and annual subscription tiers. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except as expressly set out in our Refund Policy. Taxes (GST) are added where applicable.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for fraud, money laundering, or any unlawful purpose;
  • Scrape, crawl, or extract data using automated means without prior written consent;
  • Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without a partnership agreement;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code;
  • Upload malware, exploits, or content that infringes third-party rights.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all software, designs, logos, trademarks, and documentation, is owned by AskBooks Technologies Pvt Ltd and protected by Indian and international intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service during your subscription.

6. Customer Data Ownership

You own all data you upload to the Service ("Customer Data"). You grant AskBooks a limited licence to host, process, and display Customer Data solely to operate the Service for you. We do not use your Customer Data to train third-party AI models.

7. Service Availability

We target 99.5% monthly uptime. Notwithstanding this target, the Service is provided "as is" and we are not liable for downtime, scheduled maintenance, force-majeure events, or third-party outages.

8. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for (a) breach of these Terms, (b) non-payment of fees beyond 14 days, (c) suspected fraudulent activity, or (d) compliance with legal obligations. You may terminate at any time from account settings.

9. Refund Policy

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskBooks's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to liability. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AskBooks, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the dispute resolution clause below, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably. Failing that, the dispute shall be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat of arbitration shall be Bengaluru, and the language shall be English.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified at least 14 days in advance by email and in-product notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
