The problems we solve
Online sellers bleed in three places
Settlement reconciliation eats my Mondays
Amazon says ₹2,84,500. Books say ₹3,12,200. The difference is fees, refunds, FBA charges, COD charges, and promotional discounts. 6 hours every Monday reconstructing. Sometimes you just give up and move on.
Auto-import marketplace settlement reports (Amazon MTR, Flipkart Tax Report, Meesho settlement). Per-order matching. Commission, FBA, returns, and TCS each coded automatically. Reconciliation in 10 minutes.
True per-SKU margin is unclear
Sell SKU-A at ₹599. COGS ₹350. You think profit ₹249. But Amazon fee ₹89, shipping ₹45, returns ₹30 amortized, packaging ₹12, ad spend ₹40. Reality: ₹33 profit or a loss. You can't know without tracking all-in cost.
All-in landed cost per SKU: marketplace fees, shipping, returns amortization, packaging, ad spend, COGS. Real margin per channel and per SKU. Worst performers flagged with recommendation.
Returns tank profitability silently
Category X has 30% return rate on Meesho. Gross margin looks positive because you look at revenue, not net. Net of returns, restocking cost, and re-dispatch — you're actually losing ₹8 on every order.
Per-SKU return rate tracked across channels. Net margin (after returns, repackaging, re-dispatch) reported separately. Top loss-makers flagged. Channel comparison shows where returns destroy value most.

We thought our top-selling SKU was making 22% margin. After AskBooks showed all-in cost — returns plus ads plus repackaging — it was actually losing money. We dropped it and shifted to 3 other SKUs. Saved ₹4 lakh in 3 months. And the settlement reconciliation: from 6 hours every Monday to 10 minutes on Tuesday morning.

Frequently asked questions
How does TCS collected by Amazon/Flipkart affect my GST?
Under Section 52 of CGST Act, e-commerce operators collect 1% TCS (0.5% CGST + 0.5% SGST) on net sales through their platform. This amount appears in your GSTR-2B as a credit. AskBooks tracks TCS collected per marketplace per month and ensures it is correctly claimed as a credit in your GSTR-3B, reducing your net GST payment.
How does AskBooks reconcile Amazon settlement reports?
AskBooks imports your Amazon MTR (Monthly Tax Report) and settlement statement automatically. Each order is matched to the settlement line — GMV, Amazon commission, FBA fees, closing fees, COD charges, returns, and TCS are all separated. Unreconciled items (disputed fees, unmatched returns) are flagged in a separate report for your review.
Can we track inventory across Amazon FBA, Flipkart FBF, and our own warehouse?
Yes. AskBooks maintains separate inventory locations for Amazon FBA, Flipkart FBF, and your own warehouses. Stock movements (FBA inbound shipment, sales, returns, damaged goods) are tracked per location. You can see consolidated available-to-sell inventory across all locations in one view.
How is GST handled when selling in multiple states through marketplaces?
Interstate e-commerce sales attract IGST at the applicable rate. AskBooks applies IGST on all sales where the delivery state differs from your GST registration state. For intra-state sales (same state as your GST registration), CGST + SGST is applied. The GSTR-1 is auto-split correctly between interstate and intrastate sales.
What is GSTR-8 and how does it affect sellers?
GSTR-8 is the GST return filed by e-commerce operators (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho) showing TCS collected from sellers. Your GSTR-2B includes credits from GSTR-8. AskBooks reconciles your actual sales data against what the marketplace reported in their GSTR-8. Any mismatch is flagged so you can follow up with the marketplace to correct their filing.
